Prioritising Personal Wellbeing and Leadership
This post is an invitation with your name on it. The next letter is day 26 of the Resilience Alphabet and the last letter of the series. However, your personal resilience and wellbeing will remain important long after this Alphabet ends.
Prioritising yourself is a cornerstone of building resilience. By taking time for self-care and acknowledging your own needs, you create a solid foundation for managing stress and overcoming challenges. Self-prioritisation means ensuring your physical, mental, and emotional well-being are top priorities, which in turn enables you to be more effective in all areas of your life.
Practise these steps:
When you invest in your health, rest, and personal growth, you build the strength and capacity to handle adversity with grace and optimism. This practice not only enhances your ability to bounce back from setbacks but also allows you to be more present and supportive for others, ultimately contributing to a healthier, more balanced life.
Reflect:
What is one thing you can do today to support your own wellbeing and how can you make it a positive habit?
Embracing Uniqueness and Continuing the Resilience Journey
Reflecting on Robert M. Sapolsky's classic book "Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers," we are reminded of the importance of managing stress. Living in a constant state of stress is harmful, which is why it's crucial to find regular respite from daily pressures to sustain our health and wellbeing. Even short breaks can make a significant difference.
It's essential to take care of our own health and wellbeing to better serve others, including our family members and colleagues. Endings often present opportunities for new beginnings. As we reach the end of the Resilience Alphabet, remember that your journey towards resilience continues. Consider revisiting earlier practices or exploring new activities to keep building resilience.
Practise these steps:
In a world that often pushes for conformity, let’s remember that our unique perspectives and experiences are our greatest assets. When faced with challenges, it’s our diverse backgrounds and ideas that help us adapt and thrive.
Reflect:
Consider what makes you unique by identifying your strengths and uncovering what superpowers you have.
