The Resilience Alphabet for Kids is for children aged 5-12. This is a downloadable resource based on the 26 letters of the alphabet and can be used with individuals or groups of children. Some children will be able to use this resource independently, however, I would encourage support before and after use.
The Journey is an interactive resource supporting young people aged 13-16 to reflect on their resilience and signpost them to some supports that are available. This resource, follows the journey of Jo and is specific to the COVID-19 pandemic, however is a useful stimulus for discussion when facing change.
The Resilience Alphabet for Adults is framed around the 26 letters of the alphabet and can be read daily across the course of 26 days, or visited at a time that is relevant and appropriate to the reader. This allows the resource to be used flexibly, providing time to practise the suggested steps and reflect on the questions posed.
The Resilience Alphabet is a non-profit resource dedicated to giving back and making a positive impact.

This website has been designed to provide ongoing access to this resource and signposting to other available supports.
I am a transformational leader, quality improvement, wellbeing and growth specialist, driving change in Education, Health and Care and an award-winning innovator & collaborator.
Martha Simpson wrote the original Resilience Alphabet for Adults during 2020 in response to the global pandemic. At the same time, I partnered with Martha to write the Resilience Alphabet for Kids and The Journey for 13-16 year olds, both illustrated by Phil Wong. Education Scotland endorsed the resources for children and young people and worked with us to share them locally and nationally.
I am passionate about continuing to support others and building inner strength and resilience and with permission have rewritten the adult Resilience Alphabet contained in this site.
In 2023 we proudly worked in partnership with Clan Cancer Support in Aberdeen to provide access to the Resilience Alphabet for Kids.
With generous funding from Aberdeenshire food ingredients manufacturer Macphie UK, Clan were able to transform the resource into an interactive wellbeing tool. The Children and Families team now use this tool with their young clients, building resilience and inner strength at a challenging time in their lives.
